In Memory of BT3 William A. Marshall, USN
January 7, 1966 – December 18, 2016
USS Cayuga LST 1186
Bill Marshall was born January 7th, 1966 in Saginaw, Michigan to Jerry and Vola Marshall, he was their second born, after his older brother Ed. He grew up with 3 younger brothers and sisters, Christine, Mike, and Nancy. Growing up Bill loved the outdoors, playing sports, and spending time with his family. Trips to the family cabin happened frequently where Bill discovered his love for hunting and fishing. Bill graduated from Reese High School in 1984 and then went on to join the Navy. He served from 1984-1988 on the USS Cayuga LST 1186 and traveled around the West Pacific, Australia, and the Philippines. After his years of service, Bill went on to become a propane truck driver in his hometown of Reese. He excitedly welcomed a son, Jerry, in 2001. He spent most of his adult life doing what he loved the most, hunting, fishing, bowling, and spending lots of time with his family. Along with his son, Bill also welcomed many nieces and nephews into his life, Larissa, Emily, Ashley, Meagan, Ayden, Preston, and Charleigh. Bill had a huge heart, a goofy personality, and he loved tremendously; family was always his number one priority. Bill tragically lost his silent battle to depression December 18th, 2016. His family had no idea of the struggles he was facing in his heart and mind. His whole family survives him, and we miss him terribly. If love alone could have saved him, Bill would have lived forever.
