Codey William Donahue, 29, of Bedford, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.

He was born on June 9, 1993, in Roanoke, Virginia. He was a high school graduate of Staunton River High School.

After high school, Codey enlisted in the US Army and worked his way up to becoming a E5 Sergeant. While in the Army, he was deployed to South Korea and did a short stent in Afghanistan. He was a part of the 82 Airborne in Fort Bragg, NC. He was always willing to help a veteran in need.

Following the military, he returned to Bedford where he started his own business in construction. He had a passion for hot rods, which he shared with his stepdad. Codey enjoyed the outdoors: fishing, hunting, and kayaking. He loved working with cattle, horses, and recently, was learning roping. Codey was a very intelligent, sarcastic, and honest person who didn’t mind telling you what was on his mind. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his sons, Buddy Josiah Donahue and Hudson Alexander Donahue; mother, Ami Waldron Overstreet (Street); father, Mark William Donahue (Shelia); siblings, Bradlee Keefe Donahue (Kayla), Andrew Scott Donahue, Kiersten Leighann Elesser (William), Abigail Raine Donahue; love of his life and mother of his child, Morgan Arrington; paternal grandparents, Judy and John Kostecky; maternal grandparents, Donna and Richard Garis; nieces, Lexi, Matyson, Brooklyn, and Jessie; nephews, Jackson and Bronx; life-long friends, Stevie, Jacob, Michael, Justin, Shannon, Shane Irwin, Alex Ontiveros, Tracy and Tom Webster, Chris Franklin and loyal K-9 companion, Karma, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Codey is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Buddy Marvin Donahue; maternal grandfather, Dewey Jackson, Jr.; paternal great-grandmother, Katie McCormick; maternal great-grandmother, June Simmons; maternal great-grandparents, Harry and Sadie Vaughn, maternal great-grandparents, Dewey Jackson, Sr. and Katherine Waldron, and his loyal K-9 companions, Coal and Loki.
