Sergeant Jonathan Bryce Woolsey passed away on September 16, 2024, in Reston, Virginia, at the age of 22. He was born on April 16, 2002, in Aurora, Colorado, and spent much of his life in Alexandria, Virginia, where he developed a deep love for the outdoors and a passion for serving his country.
Jon’s adventurous spirit led him to explore the woods, whether he was fishing, camping, or just looking for snakes and lizards. Jon also found great joy in playing baseball, spending countless hours on the diamond. From a young age, he knew he wanted to join the Army, a dream he fulfilled with pride. Sergeant Woolsey was stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, where he completed various training such as Jungle and Air Assault school and later served as part of the prestigious Old Guard at Fort Myer, Virginia.
More than his accomplishments, Jon will be remembered for his infectious energy and the light he brought to every room. A natural jokester, he had a gift for making those around him smile and feel happy and loved. He was always willing to lend an ear or help in whatever way he could. His determination to spread joy and his love for life will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
Jonathan is survived by his loving family: his mother, Shirley Levitzke, and stepfather, Christopher Buchanan; his father, Jason Woolsey, and stepmother, Kristen Lord; his sister, Meaghan Woolsey (William); his step-siblings, Keely Buchanan, Kai Buchanan, Keegan Buchanan, Jessica Priestley (Adam), Brian Lord (Brianna), and Ricky Lord (Elise); and his grandparents, Patsy Levitzke, and Phila and Thomas Woolsey. He is also survived by his beloved long-term girlfriend, Catherine Seybold, who was a constant source of love and support in his life. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Phillip Hoyle.
Jonathan’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

He is laid to rest in Virginia.
