May 8, 1993 – December 10, 2023

Active Duty

U.S. ARMY 82nd ABN/ Paratrooper, Cody Lee Collett Cosner, at the age of 30, took his own life at his home in Hope Mills, NC on December 10, 2023. He was born May 8,1993 to Carrie Lee Cosner Collett in Ogden, UT. He is also survived by his son Boden (Bodie) Lee Cosner (5 months old at the time of Cody’s passing), his younger brother, Wyatt Wayne Collett Cosner, who also serves in the Army and his dad Johnny Ramsey Collett.

Cody was raised in Lee’s Summit, MO & then moved to Butler, MO in 2007 when he was in 7th grade. He was great at making new friends no matter where he found himself. In high school he did a stand-up routine for the talent show, he chose the funniest characters to portray in the school plays, and he tried every sport but ended up lettering in track.

At 17 he joined the Army to help pay for his college tuition. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a minor in a 2nd language. His sophomore year he went on his first deployment to Afghanistan in 2013, then deployed again in 2018 to Iraq. He was working in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence NCO.

Cody was a Paratrooper that dreamed of becoming a pilot, a family man and great friend above everything else. Cody was a devoted father; it came quite naturally to him. He was dedicated to the Mission to provide assistance to service men and women; he took pride in serving his country and being part of something that was bigger than himself.

Some of Cody’s favorite pastimes included working on his Corvette, spending time with his friends, and flying. Cody took his deployment money from 2018 and used it to get his pilot’s license believing this would give him the upper hand to be accepted into the flight program. Unfortunately, he had just received his 4th denial just a few months prior to taking his own life. Cody is missed beyond measure; his life remembered a treasure. He is so love and missed by many.

Missouri is where he lived most of his life. He was stationed at Ft. Bragg in NC.

Resting place: Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler, Missouri
