“Daniel was born in Carlsbad, California. As long as I can remember he had a ball in his hand. He loved football, mostly college, basketball, soccer, even tried his hand at golf. From a little boy he wanted go into the army. He attended the Army / Naval Academy in Carlsbad, 9th – 12th grade. He graduated with his Bachelors Degree in Political Science from University of Oklahoma (again, loving football: Boomer Sooners!). There he roomed with his sister, Chrissy. They were always so close. He knew everything about any topic you could wish to discuss and had the best sense of humor.
Immediately after graduating, he joined the 82nd Airborne. He was in intelligence and was good at it because we never really knew what he did. He served in Afghanistan in 2012 – 2013. When he completed his service, he tried civilian life, but soon announced he would be doing government contract work, finding himself back in Afghanistan. When his contract was up, he returned to California. Oddly, he began to develop blood clots in his legs. The DVTs were extremely painful and we sought to find a resolution. He ended up on blood thinners which prevented him from returning to the contracting work he loved so much as it surrounded him with other former military servicemen. Daniel loved to travel and left for a final two week trip overseas. Before he left he wanted to see his father, sister, and me to let us know how much he loved us. He called us all again on his return and then he was gone. Daniel always lived life on his own terms. We will never know how badly the DVTs had gotten or if he silently endured PTSD. We will only know how much he loved us. We will miss him horribly until our final breath. “Out of excruciating pain, others will benefit”, to quote Rick Warren.” Shared by his mother, Jeaneane
States he called home: CA, OK, NC
Final Rest: Miramar National Cemetery, California
