SPC John Littrell is a native of Lakeside, CA. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and completed basic training on 18 August 2000 at Ft. Benning, GA and later AIT at Fort Sam Houston, TX as a combat medic on 11 January 2001.
SPC Littrell’s first adventure in the Army started in Wiesbaden, Germany as an EMT/Driver for the 557th MD Ambulance. Shortly after arriving to Germany, he deployed to Iraq as an EMT/Driver in 2004. Because of his excellent leadership skills, SPC Littrell was promoted to Squad Leader and continued in this position on his next deployment to Kuwait from 2006-2007. SPC Littrell left Germany and started a brand new journey as an Eye Specialist. From 2008-2009, he served as the Optometry Clinic NCO1C in the great Northwest of Washington, at Madigan Army Medical Center. He was then assigned to Fort Irwin, CA, as the Optometry Clinic NCO1C from 2009-2011. Upon arriving to Fort Carson, CO in 2011 he was assigned to USA MEDDAC as the Optometry Clinic NCO1C and simultaneously served as a Basic Lifesaving Skills instructor for the Evans Army Community Hospital.
His awards and decorations include Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with Three Oak Leaf clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal – third award, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, and Drivers Badge.
John called California home. His resting place is Fort Rosecrans, Point Loma, CA (San Diego area).
