John was the kind of guy you loved to be around; he had a one-of-a-kind laugh and made you feel like you were the only person in his world. He was a wonderful, caring, compassionate, animal loving, handsome man. He is missed and loved by many.

John Paul Lucky “Buddy” Young, 31, of Mebane, NC passed away on November 9, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 19, 2018 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Martha Anne Fairchild officiating. Burial will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. John was born in Fort Bragg, NC and graduated from Hubbard High School in Ohio. After graduation he joined the US Army earning the rank of Sergeant and served in Afghanistan. He was the “fun” uncle for his nieces and nephews and was a very loving, protective and generous person. He brought comfort to many while volunteering at the Cleveland VA.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John Edward and Eileen Obenhaus and uncle, Mark Bradley Obenhaus. He is survived by his mother, Mary M. Armstrong and husband, Tim of Mebane; father; John P. Young of OH; brothers, Ryan Young and wife, Sybil of Reidsville, Nicholas Armstrong of Raleigh, NC; sister, Dana Young-Kraatz and husband, Curtis Kraatz of Burlington; nieces and nephews, Anne Cailin, Paul Anthony, Mary Lucille, Eleanor Lane and Maggie May Young; girlfriend, Amber Sawtelle; aunt, Robyn Young; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Mae Young; canine companion, Shelby.
