In Memory of SPC Jonathan Roy Bryant, US Army
January 29, 2000, June 22, 2021
Active Duty
Jonathan loved life and was a great son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend. He was always independent. At 2 years old, he would sneak out of his window, close the window after he was out, and play in the back
yard when he was to be taking a nap. He would always fight, sometimes literally, for the underdog and stand up to bullies. He even stood up for animals. When he learned that chickens came from eggs like the one in our refrigerator, he put a towel in his pencil box and took all the eggs to school so he wouldn’t break them and they could hatch. He was always there for his brothers as well. When his little brother was learning to feed himself and learning to walk, if he said, “Jonathan Roy, help” Jonathan would stop whatever he was doing and go help his brother. He would even let his food get cold if his little brother wanted help feeding himself.
As he got older, he was there for his friends no matter what. He had a fellow soldier friend with
suicidal ideation. Jonathan went with them to the hospital and stayed with them until Jonathan felt it was safe to leave. He did this even going against a text from his SGT to return to base (clarified it wasn’t a direct order) and was even penalized for that decision. Another person that was his best friend and fellow soldier also needed help. He stayed up with him all night, talked, made him food, and
was there for him. Even when his friend would tell Jonathan to leave, Jonathan didn’t leave until Jonathan felt his friend would be okay if he left.
Jonathan loved and laughed hard and hurt even harder. He will be forever loved and never forgotten.
Jonathan Roy Bryant
Jonathan went to be with The Lord on 06-22-21 at Ft. Bragg military base in North Carolina. Jonathan was born on 01-29-2000 in Bradenton, Florida. Jonathan had an amazing soul that would light up a room, he loved to have a good time, and was always there to help others in need.
Jonathan’s life would seem short to many, but those who were touched by him, understand that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.
Jonathan graduated from Southeast High School in 2017 and left for the Army shortly after. Jonathan achieved the ranking of SPC (Specialist) as a dental hygienist in unit Fort Bragg Dental Activity, Northern Regional Dental Command at Fort Bragg and was very proud of his Army career. His own smile so infectious that everyone wanted to be near him.
Jonathan leaves behind a very large family unit with many members along with many friends who loved him dearly and will forever miss him. Jonathan was a member of Samoset First Baptist Church where he proudly accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized on 08-21-2011.
Jonathan called Florida home, and is buried at Sarasota National Cemetery.
