LCpl. Rory H. Dalgliesh USMC: Born Colorado.Springs, Colorado, May 24th. ’90. Grew up in Lake Orion, MI. Graduated Parris Island Jan. 2010. Transferred to Marine School of Infantry, assigned to 2/8 Fox Co 0311. Before deploying to Afghanistan – Jan. ’11 received training in field medics and dog handling. September 29th, 2013 he lost his battle with PTSD/TBI while active duty. He was 23 years old.
He and so many more weren’t killed in the line of duty. They were ignored in the line of life. They fought bravely to protect our freedom, but not for the freedom to neglect the same men and women who are part of a new wartime casualty. Rory was well loved by all he came in contact with, and he is missed more than mere words can begin to describe.
A poem I came up with, right after we lost our son:
I watched over a child of mine
Grow to be a proud Marine.
He safely returned from a war;
To which I thank God for.
I did so love, respect my boy;
Forced now to know his mind did destroy.
Combat related they surely will deny;
But we all know it’s due to PTSD/TBI.
Oh, but how I do miss him so;
Far too young, considering he was a hero.
To walk this land with ‘brothers’ and friend;
Professing courage, commitment to the end.
Farewell my son, farewell to your loyalty;
Your love, respect, devotion and clan trinity.
Torn is my heart, light of my light,
I do so cry; gone to angels, forever young,
Semper Fi.
