“Simon grew up in Evanston, IL. He served 2 tours: one to Iraq and one to Afghanistan. He was a loving husband, a great father, a son, brother, uncle. He was loved by so many. He was a medic in the army and loved it, he started attending culinary school and fell in love with cooking. He lost his battle on October 27, 2015. Simon-Peter was born in Evanston, IL, but currently a resident of Hammond. He was a 2005 graduate of Morton High School. Sgt. Simon-Peter retired from the U.S. Army after an outstanding ten-year career. He served in both the Iraq and Afghanistan Campaigns as a Health Care Specialist. He was Jr. Vice Commander of the American Legion Post #697 in Lansing; and member of the American Legion Riders. He loved riding his bike, “Lola”.
Simon-Peter enjoyed cooking, culinary arts and dressing as a chief. He was a loving, husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and dear friend.
“I had the pleasure of meeting and working with this extraordinary man that gave so much to his friends and family, and fighting his issues when he confronted them. His smile would brighten my day each and every time I seen him, he is very dedicated to helping and serving others he was an inspiration to all Warrior Transition Unit Soldiers.
