Zane Ross Gorman, age 27, of Sherwood, Arkansas, was a proud veteran of the 188th Wing, Arkansas Air National Guard and an exceptional student of UALR/Pulaski Tech.
He loved listening to music, gaming and having philosophical discussions while spending time with family and friends. He had the biggest heart and the kindest soul. He loved and was loved by many. He will be deeply missed.
Remembrances from his sister, Valerie: “Zane was the best person I knew, and I’m not just saying that – he had the kindest soul and was always giving; he was just a good person. He did a tour in Afghanistan in 2012 for six months and came home different, even though he had struggled with depression in the past while we were growing up. This time it consumed him very quickly. He reached out for help a couple of weeks before he passed – he went to the VA and was diagnosed with PTSD and depression. Two weeks later he lost his battle.”
“He never had it easy growing up – he had a speech disorder, ADHD, and dyslexia but he always overcame everything life handed him. Even though he was my little brother, he protected me. He was my best friend, and my mom’s and my brother’s – we are lost without him. As far as hobbies, he loved gaming, his guns, rock music, and in-depth philosophical conversations with others. He was going to school to be a pharmacist and he maintained a 4.0. He put everything he had into school. From talking with my brother, I know he did not want to die. He was just hurting so much inside. He left his final semester of school and tried to get help through the VA but didn’t get it soon enough to save him. We knew Zane as a fighter and we thought he would fight through this too. I believed he fought as much as he could. The world is a darker place without him.”
